When is early treatment worthwhile?
Has your dentist noticed a crossbite, a pronounced overbite or excessive growth of the lower jaw in your child? Have baby teeth had to be removed? Or is a sucking habit proving stubborn? Then a visit to the orthodontist is worthwhile as early as kindergarten age or the start of school.
Typical reasons for early treatment
- Crossbite (lateral or frontal)
- Greatly increased overbite with risk of injury to the front teeth
- Protruding lower jaw (prognathism)
- Open bite caused by thumb sucking or dummies
- Early loss of baby teeth and impending lack of space
